Washington Elementary School is located at 425 Highland Ave. in Downtown Fayetteville, Arkansas. The school serves children from kindergarten through fourth grade and enrolls about 300 students. Part of the Fayetteville Public School System, Washington Elementary placed in the top 50% of state schools for test scores in 2019. Class sizes are below the state average, allowing each child to receive more individualized attention. Washington Elementary is also one of the most diverse public elementary schools in the state. The school offers arts and music programs, the Washington Library, and physical education classes that focus on coronary health and the core components of fitness. Washington Elementary also offers technology resources, such as access to Rosetta Stone language learning software. In addition, there is a gifted and talented program for students who would benefit from academic challenges outside of standard coursework and instruction. Perhaps where Washington Elementary is most unique is in its after-school options for students. The school features the Creative Cats After-School Program, which offers a variety of classes such as technology, gardening, music, foreign languages and more. The program also sponsors summer field trips, such as visits to apple farms and fishing tournaments.
