Heaton Elementary, home of the Bulldogs, educates approximately 540 students from kindergarten through sixth grade and is part of the Fresno Unified School District. Named in honor of the first Superintendent of Fresno schools, T.L. Heaton, the school is located on North San Pablo Avenue.
As they build a foundation for students in these elementary years, Heaton encourages strong partnerships with parents to boost student success. To help ensure this, all students receive modern laptops so that learning can happen both at school and at home. The school’s stated mission is to prepare children to be career-ready graduates.
In addition to the core elementary curriculum, Heaton students enjoy a music program that also teaches movement and drum circle. They also enjoy opportunities to participate in drama club, cooking class, gardening, themed dress-up days and Read Across America challenges.
Before the regular school day, breakfast is available at school and students can also participate in Heaton’s after-school program. In the program, students can receive science, technology, engineering, art and math enrichment, also known as STEAM, homework support, tutoring, social-emotional learning and even join in fun activities like a talent show, celebrating Earth Day or planting a garden.
Student-athletes at Heaton can participate in football, volleyball, cheering and basketball. The school offers multiple paved sports courts for outdoor play.

I had three children attending Heaton Elementary School in Fresno. It was a big mistake to move to a bigger home because the school they attend now isn't as good as Heaton.
