GreatSchools Rating

Source: GreatSchools
GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

We had a lot of opportunities to take college classes which got me farther along in college because I had over half of my credits already. One thing galena has is an amazing technology department and that will take you far in life. I didn't realize how set up for college Galena had made me until I actually got to college. Everyone knows everyone and the teachers create friendships with their students.

Nice teachers that work well with what they are provided. The curriculum isn't designed to prepare all students for college.

Small school that allows you to get to know most students and faculty. Smaller classroom sizes are an advantage and the majority of the teachers will give extra help when you ask. No major violence, bullying in this school - but there is also not much diversity either. It would be nice to have tougher assignments and get pushed more.
