Canyon Elementary School, home of the Coyotes, is located in Glendale, Arizona and is a part of the Peoria Unified School District. The school has a student population of about 300 students and serves students in kindergarten through eighth grades. Its suburban environment allows for a large campus, with trees and large playground area. Like many other elementary schools in the district, it attracts students from outside the area through open enrollment. More than half of the students enrolled at Canyon Elementary School tested at or above the state average in both reading and math. This school has a student/teacher ratio of 12-to-1, which is better than that of the district average. This gives students a chance to learn in much smaller class sizes. The mission of this school is to focus on the individual greatness of each and every individual student, so that they are able to excel in and outside the classroom. Sports programs and arts education are both hallmarks of Canyon Elementary, as they are in other Peoria elementary schools. The school also hosts parent programs on timely topics Like bullying and child safety. The Sunflower Program within the school serves students with special needs. This helps teach all students about compassion and inclusion.

My child came to this school mid way through 1st grade. The administration was very friendly and welcoming. The teacher was really welcoming as well. My niece went to this school and they were so good with her. She needed extra help and they went above and beyond to help her do her best. They have P.E. every other day, which is important to my boy. They are very caring and family friendly.

We love Canyon! We transitioned here from homeschooling and they were so welcoming and kind to my kids. My oldest has promoted to high school and she was truly sad to leave her junior high teachers behind. We have two kids at Canyon this upcoming year and we know that this is the best place for them...

My child has attended this school and there has been several issues that to this day I have never been called back by the principal or superintendent of schools. One is the school’s after school program never called 911 when my child’s arm was broken on the playground. She’s ended up in surgery over...

I absolutely LOVE this school!! My kiddos have been attending for 9 years now and I couldn't have asked for a better school for them to attend. The administration is fantastic and really on point. The teachers and staff are amazing as well.
