Situated in a rural setting within a residential area abundant with trees, Greenwood Elementary is renowned for its academic success. The school opened in 2004 and serves students from prekindergarten through fifth grade with an average student-teacher ratio of around 18-to-one.
The Greenwood Gators are proud to have been recently recognized as one of only six schools in Henrico County to earn the Board of Education Highest Achievement Award. According to Greenwood’s principal, the secret to their success is the “people we hire and surround ourselves with daily.” Currently, 63% of teachers at Greenwood hold an advanced degree.
At Greenwood, students are encouraged to discover their gifts and talents and are provided opportunities, clubs, competitions, and performances to share them. Not only do they have the only cycling room in Henrico County, students here can participate in drumline, debate team, dance team, podcast team, digital art, Greenwood Gents, cheerleading, and much more.

My granddaughter is enrolled in kindergarten at Greenwood Elementary this school year (2018-2019). She has already learned quite a bit so far this year, and she is just now returning after "Christmas" break. The school and the teachers are outstanding. They keep the kids actively engaged and their minds stimulated. I am very impressed by this institution, and my granddaughter looks forward to going to school there every day. I would give them an A+

There are pretty colors on an awful foundation. This school does not provide any assistance with special needs and tends to favor some children over others. I would never recommend this school to anyone.

This school is awesome! I feel completely at ease sending my child to school knowing that she has other adults at school that have her best interest at heart. Greenwood makes learning FUN!!! The school is very diverse and inclusive, we have loved our time at GREENWOOD!
