GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

HMS is a great small-town public area. Overall, I think the teachers and staff are very welcoming and it is a positive environment. Like any school, there are some downs, but for the most part I would recommend to anyone in the area or looking to move.

I have gone here for most of my academic career. I enjoy some of the teachers that are here. Some of them are understanding and always there for the students. I think that they need to work on their college readiness. Most of the students aren't ready for college at graduation. The facilities also need a lot of work. The buildings are not in the greatest shape, which affects how the kids learn.

I have gone to the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn since 3rd grade. Throughout my years I have learned that you need to want something to get it. Learning here tends to be more on your own. The buildings are old, but the high school is actually the best.
