GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Capital High has been a good high school experience. All the students and staff are so welcoming and you create genuine connections with your teachers and classes. The school prioritizes my education and really aids in furthering my education. They help push me to my limits with all of the honors and AP classes they offer.

The diversity is a problem. Name calling and slur usage rages rampant in the halls with no repercussions. There are very few accomodations for gender non-conforming individuals (only one gender neutral bathroom on one side of the school that you have to have a key to get into). Teachers are great and do the best with what they have to work with. I would like to see some more college readiness stuff for both juniors and seniors.

Capital High is the kind of school that seems very daunting and isolated at first. After a little while it becomes very easy to find a group of people you really connect with. This school is very dedicated to sports and their teams, but the arts are not neglected. We have 3 plays a year as well an insane number of other ways to show talent. The teachers are very dedicated in the student's education and if it seems like they are a little hard on you it is because they care.
