I recently went back to visit West Elementary as a senior in High School. From a quality education, to top-of-the-line facilities, programs, and classes, it's no wonder people move specifically to Hillsborough for its schools. I can't speak for what West offers now but these were my favorites when I attended: iLab, the families program, art in action, and the various educational field trips.

West Elementary is committed to excellence. Besides their scores being exceptional, the teachers truly care about the children. The community funds additional programs like art in action, I lab and so much more. It’s like a private education as a public school. ,

Great classroom education, plus lots of extras: innovation lab, mathletics competitions, annual musicals at each grade, week-long trip to Yosemite, etc. "Essential Outcomes" (presentations, teamwork, persistence, etc.) are as important as grade-level state content standards.

I don't know why the negative reviewers wrote what they did. Both of my children attended West and got into two very prestigious, selective private schools on the Peninsula for which they were very well-prepared. All of the Hillsborough schools are excellent.

This is a great school for teachers. Many teachers take too many days off. The school always hires substitutes as babysitters to watch the students. If you would like your kids to spend time with babysitters, you should come to this school.
