The Elysian Charter School of Hoboken is one of New Jersey’s original 13 charter schools. Named for the Elysian Fields of Greek mythology, the school works closely with parents and students to emulate the utopian fields of Greek myth. Opening in 1997, the school believes in not only a hands-on and child-centric model of learning but one that is academically rigorous and progressive. Their curriculum meets the New Jersey State Standards while remaining focused on each student, leading to curious and life-long learners. Serving kindergarten through eighth grade, Elysian keeps class sizes small with only 16 students per class, for a total of 288 students. As a charter school, Elysian mainly serves students within Hoboken but will accept students from outside of the Hoboken school district. Students can enjoy a variety of athletic programs at the school, such as the basketball, track and rugby teams. The school staff runs the early morning drop-off and aftercare programs. The school is located near Harborside Park, close to the Hudson River, making it a perfect spot for Elysian’s many hands-on field trips to historical and natural sites within Hoboken.

2 of my children went to this school. They were bullied by the other students and the teachers did nothing to stop it even yelling at my kids for fighting back or crying. My youngest social skills and trust in teachers was hurt by this. The curriculum left them under prepared for other parts of their lives. I wouldn't recommend this school to any parent but especially parents of neurodiverse children.

I'm a 5th grade student of Elysian. Elysian has very good staff, teachers, etc. I'm learning a lot. I have a few allergies, so they are very careful with me. The only thing that could improve is the school food. It does not always appeal to me.
