GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

There were sever times that we had no teacher and only subs who didn't know what they were doing. We wouldn't learn anything in that class all year because we didn't have a teacher. There is no diversity in the school. We have maybe 10 or so people who are no white in the entire school of 1,000+ people.

Homer Community High School is a small school in a small town. Everyone knows each other. For how little the student population is, Homer does a good job at keeping up with teaching trends. I had good relationships with almost all my teachers and knew I could call for help and they would be there for me. It had its ups and downs, but overall it was a great experience for me.

It was a good experience. The faculty and teachers really care about you. The advance coursework is very much lacking and is the largest negative at Homer. Only a few teachers really push you to succeed. Sports, especially baseball, is put above EVERYTHING, even academics. Be prepared for everything except for baseball to be underfunded and overlooked by the faculty. I am glad I went to Homer, I just wish they pushed academics and advanced coursework more.

I went to this school my entire life and both my children started here. An amazing school with great staff. The community is actively involved and everyone works together to benefit our children. I do have to say that my family has relocated to another state and the school system here is the worst I...
