At Alief Middle School, pawprints pop up everywhere in alignment with the school’s motto “Paws for success!” The 1,000 sixth through eighth grade students are known as the Cubs, and the devoted faculty are committed to ensuring that each pupil receives the tools necessary for paving a bright and successful future.
On the athletic field, the Cubs perform with purpose, passion and pride in sports including tennis, soccer, baseball and softball. Their efforts pay off, as several of the grade-level teams are reigning district champions.
Alief Students are making strong progress when it comes to academics, and they're well-supported by their faculty. 93% of teachers have more than three years of experience compared to the Texas average of 84%, and the student-to-teacher ratio of 13-to-1 compares favorably to the state's 15-to-1 ratio.
In line with the educational best practice of giving students a voice and choice, Alief Middle School offers its students plenty of electives to choose from. Fine arts offerings include art, band, choir, orchestra, theater and visual arts. There are also additional physical education, science, engineering, technology and math selections.
Another exciting student option includes career and technology education courses to set students up for vocational career training in high school.
