This Houston Independent School District campus serves the area's pre-K through fifth grade students. Named after community advocate and educator Felix Cook Jr., Cook Elementary offers a variety of learning opportunities for students, including gifted and talented, fine arts, transitional bilingual and English-as-a-second-language (ESL) programs, to name a few. Cook students also have the chance to get involved in extracurricular activities like advanced art, dance, Lego and robotics clubs. Cook Elementary is also home to a one-of-a-kind, award-winning fine arts magnet program. Through this program, all students have the opportunity to enroll in fine arts appreciation classes and to participate in professional exhibitions off-campus. For third through fifth grade students who’d like to further their studies, classes in advanced dance, school newspaper, robotics, advanced art and advanced theater are also available. A Title 1 campus, Cook Elementary teachers and staff are dedicated to student success. In fact, Cook Elementary was recognized as a 2020-2021 Gold Certified Family Friendly School. This school district distinction recognizes Cook’s commitment to partnering with members to boost student achievement.
