Established in 2009, Ada Clegg Elementary is a public school in the Huntington Beach School District serving kindergarten through fifth grade. Located at 6311 Larchwood Dr. in the city of Huntington Beach, the school enrolls approximately 500 students. Home of the Cougar Cubs, the school strives to prepare students to be responsible and resourceful citizens. Ada Clegg Elementary provides all core subjects using the STEAM curriculum of science, technology, engineering, arts and math. Student learning is directed through group activities, experiments and projects, and student projects are shared with parents and the community at a special showcase at the end of the semester. Ada Clegg features a gifted and talented education program for students in third to fifth grade to challenge advanced learners. Testing for the enrichment program is performed in the second grade. The school’s technology initiative provides students in second to fifth grade with their own Chromebook device to enhance their technology skillset, and children in kindergarten and first grade work on shared devices. In addition, the school features a program called “Lead the Way,” which enables students to develop real life skills in problem solving, critical thinking and collaboration. Ada Clegg Elementary sponsors an extended afterschool care program for students.
