Established in 1972, Golden View Elementary is a public school in the Ocean View School District. Located at 17251 Golden View Ln., in Huntington Beach, the school enrolls approximately 478 students and serves students in transitional kindergarten through fifth grade. Golden View Elementary is an environmental science school whose mission is to grow children into well-educated adults who are environmentally conscious and responsible leaders. Core classes in English/language arts, science, math, social studies and physical education are incorporated with the school’s Environmental Science program, which is implemented throughout the day. The program features a 2 ½-acre farm with animals and a fruit and vegetable garden. Students learn how to care for living things and understand reciprocity between animals and humans. Students also learn the importance of recycling, repurpose and composting. Enrichment activities offered at Golden View include an afterschool nature club, chess club, cooking club and an environmental science showcase. Students can enjoy participating in the art explorer’s program and music lessons are offered to students in the fourth and fifth grades. Golden View features a gifted and talented enrichment program for academically advanced students who learn at a faster pace, and the “Write from the Beginning and Beyond,” which develops creative writing and storytelling skills.
