Mesa View Middle School is a magnet school in the Ocean View School District. Located at 17601 Avilla Ln., in the city of Huntington Beach, the school enrolls approximately 800 students and serves sixth through eighth grade. Home of the Eagles, Mesa View strives to create a supportive atmosphere and address individual student needs using an integrative approach honoring the whole person. The school’s core philosophy supports “students helping students,” which is the basis of the school’s WEB program “Where Everybody Belongs.” This is a school orientation and transition program where incoming sixth graders are supported and mentored by seventh and eighth grade leaders who are trained to guide new students and help them adjust to middle school. The school provides a strong academic curriculum which includes daily classes in English/language Arts, math, science, social science and physical education. The school also features a gifted and talented enrichment program for advanced learners, which comprise approximately 40 percent of the student population. Mesa View offers a variety of electives through an exploratory wheel rotation which includes classes in art, computer, current events, instrumental music, robotics, yearbook and training for a leadership role in the Where Everybody Belongs program. The athletics department hosts a variety of competitive sports including basketball, volleyball and cross country.
