Welcome to A.A. Rather Elementary School, proudly inspiring Rather Rams since 1960. Rather Elementary, along with four other elementary schools in the district, offers kindergarten through fifth grade education. The Bulldog Beginnings program provides preschool education to students throughout the Ionia Public School District.
A.A. Rather Elementary has undergone many renovations over its decades of operation to provide a state-of-the-art educational environment. Students explore core curricular areas, art, physical education, music and technology classes. The Rather library also welcomes students every week.
Located on Tuttle Road, Rather Elementary is east of Ionia High School. This promotes learning and mentorship between high school and elementary school students. As one of the largest school districts in the county, Ionia Public Schools provides exceptional opportunities for students to learn and grow in a supportive community.
The motto of A.A. Rather Elementary School is “teaching today for the promise of a better tomorrow.” From the first days of preschool through fifth grade graduation, teachers and administrative staff are committed to meeting this goal through individualized learning and ongoing education.
