During my time at Darnell Cookman I believed it to be a good school when it came to the academic aspect of school but when it came to the athletic aspect I believed it to be lacking due to the fact that we do not have a proper field to have games for football. When it come to the academic aspect though this school prepares you with the wide selection of duel enrollment programs as well as the many AP classes you can take as well as some extracurricular and programs that you can partake of you want to.

Great administration, Dr Sowell was the best with our Senior Class of 2023 and we were all prepared for college as our next step in life. I wish they had more diverse high school activities like dance or cheer or black student union, the school is more academic based with little to no extra curricular activities like regular high schools.

Teachers here at Darnell-Cookman ensure everyone feels heard and seen. They ensure everyone understands what we are learning and sit down with us if we need help. I have been here since 6th grade and plan to graduate from here next year. We have learned so much and have created long-lasting friendships and bonds with others here.

Best English teacher ever. Mrs. Lee taught my child in 7, 8, and 9 th grades. She is amazing...not just good. She guided my child, grew her up and taught grammar, literature and testing strategies. Excellent -My student has been in DC for 5 years now and I think it is one of the best schools in the district. She has felt very supported and done well there. I have enjoyed being actively involved with the school.
