At West High School, students learn in a unique way, emphasizing collaboration and communication. West High School serves ninth through 12th-grade students by dividing grade levels into small learning communities to increase student-teacher collaboration. At this West Knoxville neighborhood school, freshman and sophomore students have individual learning communities, while juniors and seniors are broken off into a combined community.
West is the only high school in Knox County to offer a rigorous International Baccalaureate Programme. Students at West High School can find community in various clubs and sports. There are approximately 50 clubs focused on special interests, academics and service, covering everything from robotics to hiking to art and prom committee. Student-athletes can compete in nearly 20 sports, including football, band, wrestling, basketball, tennis, dance and lacrosse. The football team, a perennial playoff contender and 2014 state champs, regularly compete in a challenging Class 5A Region 2 schedule. The school offers great academics as well as after school athletic and club activities, all of which draw in students from around the county hoping to engage in such amazing academic opportunities such as the IB program or the two peat state champion football team.

I repeatedly hear about fights that break out. Kids are out of control. What you see/hear just at pick up is appalling. We will be moving in order to get in to a different school next year.
