Huntington Drive Elementary acts as a storybook that showcases students’ educational journeys accented by large murals around the school’s grounds. The school began adding themed murals to walls in 2009, depicting various educational and cultural themes. Each painting tells a story, and as the school evolves, the staff and students hope to continue celebrating their history on the walls. Located on the west side of Montecito Heights, Huntington Drive educates around 300 students from kindergarten to sixth grade. It also hosts a transitional kindergarten program for pre-K students that helps them acclimate to elementary school. Huntington Drive provides a Spanish-English language immersion program for students in all grades. It also offers workshops for parents throughout the year on various topics, such as mental health and nutrition. In addition, parents can also take English as a Second Language classes at the school. The school’s paved recreation area includes shaded playgrounds.
