School looks good on paper. Admissions process requires attending a mandatory three and a half hour open house to get the application form. If you are even just 15 min late to the "open" house you will be locked out of the presentation and escorted off the property. Nothing about a firm start time in the communications from the school. A sad experience for my daughter but maybe this type of communication and treatment during the admission process helped us make the right decision about New West.

New West doesn't have much school spirit, which makes it seem lackluster at times. Although it is a nice school with good academics , facilities, and teachers, if you are looking for that classic 'high school experience', this isn't it. But if you want a small school environment with a more relaxed feel, this would be great for you.

It's a very average school. There have been a lot of terrible teachers however that have not been addressed by admin and that's why I'm rating it a 3.

Most students and faculty are incredibly rude and impolite, along with this, their academics are mediocre compared to other schools similar to them. No sports facilities either results in reliance on the city or other organizations for recreation or PE.

This school is TERRIBLE. I went there for only one year, and it DESTROYED my mental health. I went in with GAD (General Anxiety Disorder) and social anxiety, and left with both of them much worse than they had been when I started at this school. I also developed depression over the course of ONE sch...

We are delighted to be at this school; it was a welcome shift from the mediocrity of LAUSD. It's progressive in its approaches to teaching, teachers seem passionate, and the special education team is better than anything we have experienced elsewhere. My child feels cared for, safe, and challenged a...

New west is the worst school ever. They don’t care about students who have a harder time learning, they don’t care about students mental health and the teachers bully students if they aren’t doing great instead of helping them. My children were treated very poorly and it caused them to have a lot of...
