The transition from elementary to middle school is often a stressful and challenging time for students, especially in today’s world. When sixth and eighth-grade students walk through the doors of Georgia O'Keeffe Middle School, named after the renowned artist, they can expect to feel positivity, pride and welcoming learning experiences. Serving a diverse community of learners, staff members at O'Keeffe Middle School are focused on relationship building, communication and collaboration. As part of the school’s robust Academic and Career Planning Process, students are encouraged to think about their unique experiences to connect to who and what they want to be in life. Enrichment programs like art, technology, world language and music help students tap into their creative side to assist them in their transition from childhood to adulthood. Students utilize an electronic portfolio to store projects. At the end of eighth grade, students complete a portfolio presentation and share key items to tell their stories of growth, readiness and next steps in their educational journey. Extracurriculars such as the student council and Black Student Union are available for students to join. like the artist for whom the school is named, staff members at O'Keeffe Middle School encourage their students to have “purpose, artistry, and carry a social justice spirit that will change the world around them.”

My child attended O’Keefe for 1 year and the school was below average in regards to education. The staff overall was nice but they are teaching at least 1, possibly 2 years, below grade level. I’m addition there is no real extracurricular activities regardless of how they might try to spin it.

I feel that I have many peers I can connect with and I feel that many of the teachers support me and want me to be a better person and be...

I really love O'keeffe! Sure, there are kids I don't really like, but the kids I do are so kind. Also, the teachers couldn't be better. I can name a great thing about each of them. Mr. Dugas is doing a great job at running O'keeffe! He is caring, patient, kind, and respectful. I always look forward...
