Birney Elementary School
Named after Parent Teacher Association founder Alice McLellan Birney, Birney Elementary School has honored the legacy of the educator and activist for 40 years.
Serving the needs of almost 700 students, this campus on Smyrna Powder Springs Road welcomes children in the community into a supportive learning environment that can be customized to each student’s needs.
Besides upholding the standard Georgia Core Curriculum, Birney Elementary offers a number of classes not often seen at the elementary level, including targeted and advanced learning programs and arts integration. By recognizing and encouraging gifted students at an early age, the school hopes to encourage future ongoing success in honors programs for middle school, high school and beyond.
Whether students are participating in chorus club or buckling down to complete the school's rigorous study program, Birney Elementary School seeks to provide each individual child with what they need.

There was no attention to detail and she had no idea how to help my child learn. Despite all my child’s paperwork cle...

My child is well behaved most of the time. She tends to act like a typical 6 year old sometimes. For ex...

It is true there needs to be more parental involvement at the PTA level but they are actively workin...
