GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

old rochester is pretty odd for a high school. undeniably cliquey but the cliques also merge on the frequent. really not much of a bullying problem, although there are many jock types that go here. little to no fights, safety feels very good. academics are above average, many great programs and courses for specific majors - computer science curriculum is top of the line. overall, ORR is an above average high school that i would absolutely recommend if in the area

Pretty average when it comes to most things. Emphasis on sports over arts, though the football team is good. Offers a wide range of courses, lots of APs and Honors, and many extracurriculars. Wide range of clubs, many student-driven and created by students. Not much effort to repair some dilapidated bathrooms, which says something about the financial status. No major experiences of bullying or fights I've witnessed. Food isn't the best, but at least I can get it free.

In all I would say that Old Rochester has given me more memorable experiences than horrible ones. I've made some of my best friends here, and discovered what I wanted to do for the rest of my life within these walls. Every teacher is different, so I can't really group them all together as a whole, but for the most part I've learned a lot from them. If I had to change anything about this school it would be the disregard for the arts in some senses. I am part of the dance team and we are continuously pushed aside for the other sports at the school. The principal is also a soccer coach, so he sees things from that point of view.

My son attends this school and I cannot say enough great things about it. From sports, field trips, teachers going out of their way to provide a great learning experience. Sure some bully's are present ( Far and few ) as in all schools, however we have dealt with the issues with school admins and ha...

We're taking our children out of the ORR school system as soon as financing comes through for a private school in Dartmouth &/or Plymouth. Mattapoisett is not what it's lauded to be - beware. On top of the myriad issues relating to general apathy, there's no industrial Art's program. Wood working an...

Class sizes vary on the level of the class, but overall my average class size was between 18-20. Most students continue on to achieve degrees in higher education, and I believe that's due to the competency and support of all teachers, parents, coaches and community members. I highly credit my time a...

This school's class sizes keep rising, despite research supporting smaller class size leads to better education. Class sizes average 28+ students per class, even in science labs. To retain a high rating, teachers will need to be hired to keep a lower student to teacher ratio.
