Weddington Elementary School, known as WDES, is a highly rated school operated by Union County public schools (UCPS) that serves 720 students in pre-kindergarten through grade five. The school is located on a sprawling campus in central Weddington that includes the middle and high schools, and was built in 1996 to address the population growth in the area.
