Jackson Elementary School is a public school in the Berclair neighborhood of Memphis, Tennessee. It serves students Pre-K through 5 grade levels and enrolls approximately 277 students each school year within the Memphis-Shelby County Schools district. With 23 teachers on staff, students have the advantage of learning in smaller class sizes for a more focused approach, with a student-teacher ratio of 12. At the home of the Bulldogs, school uniforms are required. However, jeans are allowed only on Fridays, and students must have a Jeans Pass. Jackson Elementary also offers an English as a Second Language Program. The school has been recognized by the Memphis-Shelby County Schools district for its overall success. This Title-I school received an Overall rating of 3.8 out of 5 on the school district’s scorecard system. For Academic Achievement, students scored the highest level attainable for Math and in the areas of English and Science, both subjects are 4 on the 5-point scale. The school believes every student should balance their studies and their social life, while building their character. Outside the classroom, Jackson Elementary also offers extracurricular activities such as the STEM Club and Poetry Club for students to expand their knowledge and build social skills. There are other events where parents are invited to participate, such as Muffins with Moms, Donuts with Dad, Grandparent’s Day Luncheon, or even Coffee with the Counselor.
