Situated on the Eastern edge of Mesa, near the city of Apache Junction, Leading Edge Academy at East Mesa is the premier tuition-free, public charter school for K-10 aged youth. With seven locations throughout the valley and in Flagstaff, Leading Edge is consistent in its focus on promoting character building and academically challenging its students.
Leading Edge Academy is primarily funded by the state of Arizona, meaning that it’s able to offer a charter school education to the public at no additional expense to parents. The school draws additional funding through a tax credit program that incentivizes voluntary donations.
As a result of creative fundraising, the academy is able to offer a range of age-appropriate athletics and activities such as spelling bees, poetry contests, math olympics, flag football, soccer, basketball and track. It also offers after-school programs in art, coloring, Dungeons and Dragons as well as others.
Established in 2002 by Pastor Delmer Geesey, the academy provides a traditional education to students by qualified instructors and in smaller class sizes. These smaller classes foster a more hospitable environment, allow for more one-on-one instruction and are geared toward personalizing each child’s education, successfully assisting them to overcome unique challenges.

Both of my children have gone here since 2015. I am more then pleased with all the teachers there. They have the ability to focus in small groups when the kids are struggling. Great!! I wish this school went through High School. The 6th grade class that was promoted this 2017 year; were an awesome class of students. They didn't want to seperate, it's sad they have too.
