Taft Elementary School educates roughly 500 students in prekindergarten through sixth grade. Taft’s mission is to provide an inclusive education for all students. Built in 1965, Taft Elementary was named after the former President William Howard Taft and the student body is represented by their school mascot, the White Tiger. Throughout the school year, Taft Elementary hosts community events such as annual family game nights and seasonal schoolwide celebrations. The school’s faculty always helps parents stay involved with each student’s educational journey and informed about their child’s social and academic progress. Beautification of the grounds with trees, benches and picnic tables was recently completed by volunteers and sponsored by Home Depot and HandsOn Greater Phoenix. The school’s playground features a large blacktop with painted schoolyard games like hopscotch and four square, ball fields and six basketball courts. KinderU and Head Start are among Taft’s student enrichment programs. KinderU is an early learning program offered by Mesa Public Schools that helps students in pre-K make a smooth transition to kindergarten. Head Start provide community resources to students in need, a testament to the this Northeast Mesa elementary school’s dedication to improving the live of each and every student.

Again, it feels like family here. Unfortunately, COVID might negatively impact some of the amazing interactions like family night, which will be sad. Family night was an extra bonus of this school. I rate this school as extremely exceptional and safe for my kids.
