St. Philip's Lutheran School

St. Philip's Lutheran School

Private Pre-K, Elementary, Middle School | Grade Pre-K-8
3012 N Holton St,  Milwaukee, WI
4.3
St. Philip's Lutheran School is a place where children learn and grow closely together. It's a private school with a low student population evenly distributed from prekindergarten through eighth grade. Enrollment at St. Philip's is about one-third of the nearby Catholic pre-K-8 school, Messmer Saint Mary. Messmer, in turn, is about two-thirds of the Riverwest's public pre-K-8. Smaller schools often perform better than their larger neighbors, and St. Philip's is no exception. In addition to small cohorts, this school also has exemplary-level accreditation from the National Council for Private School Accreditation. Beyond credentials, official statistics suggest that St. Philip's is one of the best-performing options in the neighborhood. Academics follow the standard secular track for elementary and middle school. There's also the religious, values-based education you would expect from a Christian institution. For sports, St. Philip's Warriors can choose from cross-country, track, volleyball, basketball and wrestling. An indoor gym complements attached playgrounds to provide a home for practice, events and recess. The administration describes this as a place for conservative, Lutheran education. That mission has proven to have enduring value. The school started in 1958, and, although the neighborhoods have changed, St. Philips Lutheran School continues to serve a slice of the Riverwest and Harambee communities of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I am very thankful for the family-like Christian atmosphere this school provides. The student to teacher ratio is just right to provide my child with group learning as well as one-on-one help when needed. The teacher's work hard to keep the parents informed about my child's education.
