Located at 3501 Seine St. in New Orleans’ Behrman neighborhood, Paul Habans Charter School is part of the Crescent City Schools charter network. All three of the schools in the Crescent City network have earned “A” letter grades in school performance from the Orleans Parish School Board.
This co-educational. college-preparatory school offers daily transportation to and from campus and extracurricular activities such as basketball, soccer, flag football and volleyball. Other enrichment opportunities include fine arts courses, culinary arts, brass band, color guard, graphic design and student council. All these programs are designed to inspire self-sufficiency and discipline.
Paul Habans Charter School operates from a belief that a positive environment where each child is respected and listened to creates the most engaged learners. To put this into practice, students were given the opportunity to take design classes and help a local architecture firm create a new playground for the school. The firm worked with the students’ ideas, opening the new play space in 2017. Not only did the students get to claim ownership of their playground, they learned how to take the needs of a group — not just themselves — and translate that into action.
