Located at 8550 Curran Blvd. in the Little Woods area of New Orleans, Robert Russa Moton Charter School’s motto is "Wisdom, understanding and knowledge are the keys to success." To implement these values in their students, the school focuses on performing arts as well as academics to create first-hand experience and classroom engagement. They serve pre-kindergarten through grade eight and have an inclusive special education program. Moton Charter enrolls more than 450 students and has a student-to-teacher ratio of 21-to-1. It offers transportation to and from campus each weekday. Moton Charter is also Americans with Disabilities Act compliant. For those interested in sports, the institution offers flag football, cheerleading and basketball. Marching band is available for those wishing to learn an instrument, as are dance, art, music, choir and computer courses. Children in the after school program can take part in these classes along with reading, mathematics, and arts and crafts. What Moton Charter strives for is to give each student a comprehensive background in basic skills to inspire more complex thinking over time. To achieve this, one-on-one instruction is given priority as are individualized learning plans. Together, the students and educators of Moton Charter endeavor to create a learning environment where kindness and wisdom can flourish.
