Pacific Northern Academy is Anchorage’s only non-denominational private school. Serving approximately 120 students in preschool through eighth grade, PNA’s mission is to help students become exceptional learners and independent thinkers who embody vision, courage and integrity. The school uses the STRIVE model for academic success, with students taught to be Safe, become Trailblazers, be Responsible and Inclusive, and make their Voices heard as they strive for Excellence.
In addition to core academic classes, the performing arts, visual arts, physical education and Spanish are incorporated into the curriculum. Science and social science are taught using project-based learning methods, which allow students to participate in in-depth and hands-on projects and experiments that make learning interactive and exciting.
Non-academic opportunities are available to help enrich the learning experience and create well-rounded students. These activities change every trimester but have included science explorers, 3D printing, robotics, running club, band and basketball.
Students and parents are considered active partners in education. Parents are expected to volunteer 20 hours per school year, whether in the classroom or for various school activities — and work in partnership with faculty to create a community of learners.

We could not have asked for a better environment that encourages curiosity and answer-seeking. The faculty and administrators are the best mixture of professional and kind experts.
