With respect, responsibility and integrity as its guiding principles, Norma Coombs Elementary School proudly serves students in kindergarten through fifth grades and has approximately 500 students enrolled. Located in the Pasadena Unified School District, Norma Coombs has a number of solid and dedicated academic resources to serve and support its diverse student body. For those just starting school, Norma Coombs participates in the Transitional Kindergarten Program. Transitional kindergarten builds a firm bridge across the gap between preschool and traditional kindergarten. It provides their youngest students with a much stronger foundation to succeed in school. Norma Coombs Elementary, founded in 1972, is now entering its 50th year. Its approach to learning is somewhat unique among Pasadena schools in that it expects, from every student, active participation in the learning process through in-depth problem solving. All are guided to make their own contribution to society.
