While this school and the Illinois school system in general aren't the greatest, especially compared to my previous district, it wasn't a bad school at all. Students were encouraged to participate outside of school, and it was generally really fun - especially the week-long 8th grade field trip to Lorado Taft, everyone's favorite thing about Washington.

The hardest part about being part of a sports team at Washington is our lack of athletic students versus all the schools around us. Especially in basketball and track, the MUCH higher percentage of black kids at our opposing schools is enough to crush us in most every sport. Regardless of the lack of talent - it's a "smart" school - sports are still fun to participate in.

We have had 2 children attend Washington Gifted & have had nothing but wonderful experiences. I am unsure as to why people are comparing this school to Peoria Academy, as this site is to give WG a review. Washington Gifted is ranked #1 in the state of Illinois with students getting 100% on all state...

I know many think that this school is amazing, but it's not. One of my sons goes to Peoria Academy and the other goes here. I've been comparing homework, and the homework from Peoria Academy is much more challenging. Overall Peoria Academy is much better.
