Get ready to roar. Built in the heart of the neighborhood in 1908, Pittsburgh Beechwood PreK-5 serves Beechview as part of the Pittsburgh Public Schools system.
The school boasts a regional English as a Second Language site and provides students with essential life skills training. Beechwood PreK-5 also stresses literacy skills through Reading Often Achieves Results, or ROAR, program.
An Artist in Residency collaboration with the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts and Media exemplifies the school’s emphasis on cultural diversity and artistic expression. It also leads the way for the Nationality Night celebration, where hundreds of community members enjoy musical performances and browse students’ artwork.
Extracurricular offerings, such as art, drama and writer’s clubs, as well as partnerships with Pittsburgh Public Theater and Civic Light Opera, enhance the school’s strong focus on the arts.
