I have been very fortunate to have enjoyed my time here at Powell High School. I have been with the right crowds, and involved in too many clubs and organizations to count. But still going to school in the conservative south has it's challenges. I was disrespected as a woman and I am done rationalizing that fact. I could say a lot more but I do not wish to sound bitter.

Overall it's a solid school, a mix of teachers who genuinely care about students and others who are just there doing their job. A lot of focus on sports and little importance on the arts. Heard lots of mix feelings about teachers who had been there a long time. Same for any AP and honors. This school could definitely do way better to support all of their kids and not just their sport kids.

The school was an overall safe place to be but when issues came up the student would be ignored, even if there were many witnesses. The school did nothing to fix issues unless they got in trouble with higher ups.

In no foreseeable way would I recommend this school for anyone's children, especially those who need special education they try their hardest to take kids that are succeeding off of an IEP despite them still needing the resources that come from having said IEP.

As a student here with autism and depression, this school cares more about image than the kids actually learning. On my IEP it’s said that I’m supposed to have a co teacher in every class I’m in, and they don’t plan on following it at all if my schedule for next semester is true. Aside from one clas...

My son is in all honors classes & it's no wonder! He is challenged & nudged towards success & I am very pleased with PHS especially Coach and Teacher Mr. Smith. Mr.Smith is a teacher a parent dreams for they're child to have & I am so thankful my son was taught by him.

I am a Powell alum (class of 2001). I attended college out of state, but I've had the priviledge of returning to Knoxville for my career. While the Powell community is still an excellent town to be a part of, it is no secret that rezoning has certainly changed the dynamic at the high school. I do so...
