As a Chicago resident- I've heard nothing but positive and beautiful things about Providence St Mel School- but never had the chance to experience it for myself. All that has changed- since I've enrolled my granddaughter- who's now in 8th grade- and my grandson- who's in 3rd grade. From my very first contact with the school's Director of Admissions- Markeita Wright- I knew that Providence St Mel was where they needed to be. Before enrolling at PSM- they attended a neighborhood Chicago Public School. They were miserable- and were not looking forward to starting the new school year at their old school- especially my granddaughter- who's in the eighth grade. Since they've been at PSM- their entire attude has changed. My granddaughter's love for school and learning has returned. She anticipates going every day and hates to leave. As new students they have been made to feel welcome by both their classmates and the staff. The staff is awesome. Best choice ever for them.

They fired the teacher for speaking up about the questionable practices and policies the school has and didn’t inform parents until almost 72 hours later even though they knew th...

This is my first year at Providence St. Mel and so far its been going pretty good. There is not a lot of homework depending on your courses, but the grading scale is a bit different then your normal grading scale. The teachers really care about you and your learning environment so its a small mass o...

I went to PSM for high school and it wasn't all it's cracked up to be. I have no issue with discipline, rules, structure and high expectations, however the school took it to an unnecessary level. As hard as we worked there was no fun. This school was run with a prison style structure and it did noth...
