Orchard House School (Orchard House) is a private all-girls middle school in the Fan District. Its goal is to educate and inspire young women in fifth through eighth grades.
Orchard House’s charming campus is located on North Allen Avenue in the southern end of the neighborhood, and welcomes young women from dozens of zip codes across the region.
Leadership is at the heart of the Orchard House curriculum. Programs are designed to provide students with vital skills and opportunities to learn and practice leadership in the school and communities. Faculty and staff are dedicated to teaching all students academics, social responsibility, emotional integrity and physical well-being.
Participation in sports is also encouraged by administrators, and girls can opt to compete in field hockey, basketball and soccer. Hands-on learning is paramount here, and you’ll find that students often leave school to participate in cultural events and athletics throughout the Fan. Students of Orchard House can walk or bike to nearby museums, historical landmarks, and Virginia Commonwealth University.

My daughter is coming to the end of her college undergraduate experience and I can not imagine her success without the foundation of Orchard House at such a pivotal time in her development. To learn the skills of resiliency, self-advocacy and self-reliance as a middle schooler, as well as the power of female friendship, were a lifelong gift.

This school is amazing. Everything is designed to help the girls not only grow academically, but prepared them to be kind, confident young women. My daughter loves being at school. Orchard House has made middle school a happy place that my daughter looks forward to going to everyday.

Our daughter has grown personally, socially, and academically through her years at Orchard House. The attention that the faculty gives these middle school girls is unparalleled -- I really feel like teachers know who she is as a student and as a person. She has made good friends and become a good friend herself, without any of the middle school drama that she might otherwise have encountered.
