I attended this school from kindergarten to seventh grade but I felt trapped. The class sizes are tiny and you are stuck with the same people year after year. There were very few teachers that ever actually taught anything and I personally did not get along with a few of them. There isn't much focus on anything in particular. None of the academics are structured whatsoever. Each teacher kind of just teaches whatever they want. There are music and art classes but they aren't structured and there aren't any extracurricular sports. I ended up transferring to a private school for 8th grade and river valley must've done something right because I got good grades there. I made some lifelong friends but I overall had a poor experience and I almost feel like I wasted 8 years of my life.

One of my daughter's teacher was basically a bully. My daughter got a splinter in her foot (it later had to be surgically removed) and her teacher shoved (!!!) her shoe on her foot and told my daughter to stop being a baby! I didn't know about this until my daughter left the school or I would have done something about it.

Students at RVCS are encouraged to follow their passions while making sure they are also covering the necessities. Students are developed as independent learners who learn skills that are the building blocks of their future. The community at RVCS is deeply engaged and supportive.
