Child in first grade at the Mendell and thriving. Academics in the younger grades (which is all I can speak to) are excellent. This will undoubtably show up in test scores at the grade 3 point. Warm classrooms with student teacher ratio of 11:1. Thriving ARTS and science opportunities with a new outdoor classroom which has received national notice. Strong principal and multiple outside partnerships. The after school program is very well run (in conjunction with the Y). Won a "hidden gem" award from BPS. Facilities older and small school but that has positives as well as negatives. Lots of activities

We are in our third year at the Mendell and have had nothing but a positive experience! The members of the staff are thoughtful, friendly, and engaged and there is a strong parental community that really cares for the school. My daughter is in her third year there. The school is a warm, thoughtful and energetic place. The staff are excellent. The principal is a good leader. Communication from the school is excellent.
