Some good parts about CKM is the diversity on campus. CKM is one of the most diverse campuses that I've ever seen. Another good thing about CKM is the sports teams. I got the chance to be apart of the Step Team at CKM and it's really changed my life for the better. Some not so good things at CKM is the food. The food isn't the greatest because it's the same thing everyday there is no variation. Another not so good thing about CKM is that kids that aren't in programs such as (VAPA, LPPA, HISP) don't get the same amount of attention as the other students that are in these programs. I'd just like to see a change in the menu and more opportunities for kids from lower communities.

McClatchy is one of the best high schools in the district but it has a lot of kids. Because it's trapped in the middle of a neighborhood, we're stuck with it's current size while the amount of students grows. A school with this many kids needs more staff that it can pay well to maintain it. Most of the teachers are great while the rest barely know what they're doing. The same goes for the sports teams.

What dictates your experience at McClatchy is the teachers you have. Some teachers on campus are absolute nightmares and have the ability to ruin your whole year, but others will make school worth attending. The VAPA program is great because most of the teachers actually care, plus you get matched with a group of like-minded students. The HISP program is far too rigorous in my opinion, but some of the HISP teachers are great.

This was a shockingly bad experience. This is a cover-up culture.

100% different environment with our new administration! Teachers are happy now! Students finally have school spirit. Both of which began during distance learning because everyone saw our NEW principal Egan participating in activities & communicated information promptly. There is still work to be don...

The main reasons why I like this school are the teachers I have, the programs, and having friends. Many times I do regret going to McClatchy. Now I understand why previous teachers and family friends advised to go to West Campus.
