Established in 1954, Saints Simon & Jude Cathedral School has followed in the footsteps of its founders, the Loreto Sisters, who brought their teachings as nuns from Ireland to North Phoenix. As a private Catholic school, Saints Simon & Jude Cathedral has been fully accredited by the Western Catholic Educational Association and serves students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
Here, many of the teachers have been part of the school’s faculty for more than a decade and have become like family to many of the children’s families they serve. While they strive for academic excellence and uphold Diocesan standards in all of their classrooms, they also help prepare students for the future.
In addition to a rigorous curriculum that integrates music and physical education, students can participate in various other activities. They have the option to take part in debates, science fairs, student council activities, the Fiesta Bowl Aerospace Challenge, State Capitol visits, marine biology trips to the Channel Islands, school sports, and field days, among many others.
With more than 4,000 alumni, Saints Simon and Jude also encourages parents and caregivers to join their Mothers’ Guild and Dad’s Club to better serve their students, the church, and the community. The school also offers a before and after school care program, provides bus transit within a specific service area, and has a full-time registered nurse on staff. Financial aid and scholarships are also available.

Our two daughters started at SSJ 10 years ago. Our oldest is heading to a top ranked high school. My wife is an alum. It is a close community of loving teachers, staff and parents. If you are looking for academic excellence grounded in Catholic values, I would highly recommend SSJ. I honestly couldn't see my kids going anywhere else.

I am not only a parent but I am an alumni as well. I have been a part of the SSJ community for over 45 years and I have a lot of perspective on the school and church. This is a community that takes care of each other. I unfortunately had to experience this first hand while attending SSJ my young father got sick and SSJ and the community took care of us. I am the oldest of 6 kids and at 19 I was responsible for all my siblings. I couldn't have done this without the support of SSJ. As a parent I cannot say enough about this amazing place as well. I have had two boys graduate from SSJ and the foundation of faith and education is not comparable. Both of my boys went on to Brophy and they were more than adequately prepared for the entrance exam and their 4 year experience. Currently I have one son still at SSJ and he is special needs. I know this is new for the catholic schools and SSJ is doing an amazing job at not only supporting us, but also welcoming my son. I highly recommend!!

We have been part of the SSJ community for 7 years. The educational curriculum is strong, the teachers are outstanding and clearly care about educational outcomes, and the campus is beautiful. Each of our children have had a wonderful experience and I whole-heartedly recommend SSJ for an excellent Catholic education.
