I really like the atmosphere at school. I've certainly met a lot of like-minded, smart, intelligent people at school who put time into what they work at.

My teachers were super supportive and gave help when I needed. The classes and programs the school offered were plenty and I had fun. I made friends at that school. The bad parts would be the some facilities are sometimes out of date. I hope they can update the school.

I had a considerably good time during my time in Balboa High school. Many teachers I had went out of their ways to motivate me and were very persistent on checking for students' mental health. A few other teachers were the opposite. A PE teacher disregarded my friend's asthma diagnosis and pushed her to do intense exercises. I think the administration could be more strict on students' violent behaviors to protect other students' safety. One teacher (currently retired) failed to manage the lockdown incident safely and informed our class it was just a drill and refused to lock the door.

It was pretty bad when I was there (graduate in 2017). I had several teachers that I loved who were bullied by students and the principals did nothing about it. They left. Some students get away with horrible things all the time, bullying is constant, and the new principal would literally sit around...

It is OK I guess, but if your child transfers there from a non SFUSD school be sure you meet with their counselor each and every term to be sure their transfer credits are counted correctly. Our son transferred from Riordan at the beginning of junior year. The counselor that year, working with us, w...
