St. Rose Catholic School

Private Elementary, Middle School | Grade K-8
4300 OLD REDWOOD Hwy,  Santa Rosa, CA

With a history dating back to 1931, St. Rose Catholic School was the first Catholic elementary school in Santa Rosa. Originally located downtown near St. Rose Church, a need for greater earthquake safety led to the school moving to the Larkfield-Wikiup area in 1985. Over the years, they expanded from grades first to eighth by adding a kindergarten program and preschool. The school gradually moved to a 100% lay faculty while still honoring the traditions of the Ursuline Sisters who were their first teachers. Today, St. Rose offers Common Core instruction as well as religious teaching in keeping with the diocese of Santa Rosa’s standards. The school prides itself on capping class sizes at 32 students and preserving a faculty/student ratio of 16 to 1 which may contribute to their standardized test scores being consistently high. A varied fine arts program and numerous extracurriculars add enrichment to the three R’s – reading, writing, and arithmetic. The school was badly damaged in the Tubbs Fire of 2017 but has since been rebuilt and renewed. Adjacent to Cardinal Newman High School, parents describe St. Rose as a place their kids attended not just to learn, but to find community and make great memories.

So far we are totally pleased with St. Rose. We never expected to have to pay for our kid's education so early on but after our negative experiences with public school, this has been the change we needed are were looking for.

St. Rose has been great (if not, we'd be somewhere else). Our kid felt very comfortable, very quickly and responded to the environment with almost immediate, positive results. Moving to this school was an unqualified good decision. Thanks St. Rose!

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about my childs experience at St. Rose. I usually don't write reviews, but I noticed we only write reviews when we are upset. The staff was wonderful, we moved from another state and they were very patient at answering our questions. Took time to get to kno...

It is a disappointment that a school that could have great potential has been slowly and steadily brought down by an uncaring and inept administration, mainly the principal of the school, her sidekick counselor and the new superintendent of the diocese. Take your money somewhere else. I wish we had.
