The school is great for those who need extra assistance. The average size of an entire grade at Shelter Island School is only 15 students. Students that need the help will certainly get it here.

Teachers are very helpful and friendly. They willing to spend any extra time with students if needed. I often see former students come visit their favorite teachers. Overall, I feel pretty pleased with our teachers.

I felt grossly underprepared for college, even though colleges go out of their way to make the transition as smooth as possible. Academically I was not prepared for the amount of work I had to do. Being with the same 20 kids left me overwhelmed by the amount of people at my classes. I can only imagine how lost I would be if I had skipped college and began working and living on my own.
