GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

There was only one AP class, being computer science related, but after the teacher quit there wasn't anymore in person AP classes. The only AP classes you can take is online through another source. There really isn't much in college prep or just resources. You could take dual credit college classes online in some classes, I took a college class in person but you had to contact the people yourself to even get that option.

I've been at SHS for three years now and have had mixed experiences. Some classes i've absolutely loved and learned a lot in, while others I didn't even have a teacher. One major think I would change is the teachers actually caring about student success.

I like seeing that the teachers are really kind to their students. I would like to change the mindsets of most teachers and the academics and the college readiness.

If you think sports is more important than learning, this is the place for your child. The school has been on 'corrective action' status from the NM Dept, of Education for at least four years.
