I enjoyed the community of people at Southwest and I appreciated the schools commitment to academics and to their students. However myself and others didn't care for specific teachers and their teaching practices and the schools lunches which often were smaller portion sizes or inedible. I would like to see the school change how they hold certain teachers accountable and how they investigate problems between teachers and students.

I switched out of Southwest as a 10 grader for not one big reason, but lots of small reasons. First of all the academics are terrible (I was doing stuff I was doing in 5th grade). Also there was really no due dates so no one really did their work. Second complaint would be the overall school spirt it's just not a thing. I don't regret going there just glad I left.

I am loving my experience at Southwest. I have made new friends thanks to sports. I am able to walk to school, so that is very helpful. The teachers are all also very willing to go the extra mile and help if you ever need it.

I attended Southwest and was extremely prepared for college. My first year seemed like just a repeat of material I had already been taught at SW, and I finished my undergrad degree a semester early in Biological Sciences. I since have completed a Master's degree and am currently in a PhD program. I...

It's a public school, with kids who are different from your own; this is a good thing. The teachers care, and it's an excellent community. As with many schools, the more involved your kids are, the happier they'll be.

I took IB courses, a couple AP, and graduated from Southwest back in 2010. If I were to move back to the twin cities area, I would absolutely opt for my future children to go to one of the suburban public schools (Edina, Minnetonka, Wayzata) or private schools like Breck/Blake.I think generally ther...

Our two daughters attended Southwest and graduated with the IB Diploma. They both attended Big Ten Universities and said they were more prepared for college than 95% of the other students in their classes. We couldn't be more pleased with the education they received at Southwest.. Why would you want...
