John F. Kennedy Academy is the result of a school and community working together. Formerly known as John F. Kennedy Middle School, the school joined the UP Education Network in 2016 and began working with Empower Schools, a nonprofit organization that helps schools retain dedicated administrative and teaching staff. The Academy offers students a unique environment for growth and learning. Beginning in sixth grade, scholars—as they’re called here—join a team of students known as their “crew” and work together alongside an advisor for the duration of their time at the school. Along with academic advising, crews provide stability and support and help nurture a social-emotional learning environment. Each crew is also focused on a social justice cause, getting John F. Kennedy students out and active in their communities. A yearly school carnival and regular field trips make middle school an exciting social experience for students at the Academy. Students who want extra support can also participate in tutoring programs in reading and math, summer programs and an athletics department that includes cheer, soccer, volleyball, basketball and football. Known as the Wildcats, students are required to maintain good grades to continue playing sports while at John F. Kennedy. As with all Springfield public schools, John F. Kennedy Academy has a dress code. Students must wear white, navy blue or light blue shirts with black or khaki pants to show off their school colors.

one of my kids went to this school and a teacher ripped a piece of her hair out by accident because she was giving her attitude. Now my daughter has a bald spot. Very terrible educators.

This school has probably been the worst school I've ever been to. 1. The principal is always screaming at kids and giving hearings just for the stupidest things ever. 2. You always end up in SSC (Student Support Center) for doing the smallest things like taking your phone out to check the time. 3. T...
