With standardized test scores consistently among the best in the state, faculty members honored for their exemplary work, and recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School and a Purple Star School, Sangster is among the most highly regarded elementary schools in Fairfax County. Open since 1988, the public school enrolls approximately 900 pupils in grades K-6, with a student-teacher ratio of 16-to-1. “Engage, inspire, thrive,” reads the Sangster Elementary mission. “Committed to creating a collaborative, stimulating environment that contributes to a high level of performance and achievement, we are only as successful as our least successful student.” Providing personalized instruction at each grade level, including advanced services for gifted learners and a range of offerings for students with special needs, Sangster upholds high academic standards while fostering the development of the whole student in a safe, nurturing environment. When they aren’t hitting the books, students here – known as Falcons – enjoy a variety of extracurriculars, including band, Odyssey of the Mind, chess club, fencing, student council, safety patrol, robotics, and broadcasting club. While the school’s prestigious accolades and test scores are impressive, it’s ultimately things like after-school enrichment groups, Broadway musical reviews, and the annual Spring Carnival that generate such a strong sense of pride throughout the entire Falcon community.

Went here for two years and the worst part was for sure the teachers. However, there is a great STEM and music program.

Sangster is an excellent school. Strong focus on academics and emotional well-being of the student. Parents are very engaged and supportive. The faculty is amazing and provides differential academic attention. Homework is reasonable and enrichment activities are plenty. The Covid protocols have been...

The front office staff is diligent and take safety and communication seriously. The library has a variety of books for lev...

Sangster is a good school. They'll tell you that about a million times when you talk to Principal/AP. But it's nothing better than the rest of the local Fairfax County schools. They have all the "advanced academic" kids from the 4 other local elementary schools, so of course their test grades are hi...
