The St. Rita of Cascia High School is a private college preparatory school located on the South Side of Chicago for students in grades ninth through 12th. Founded in 1905, St. Rita of Cascia maintains strong academic and athletic traditions rooted in the educational philosophy of St. Augustine, a Catholic theologian and scholar.
The school's red and blue crest is emblazoned with a book and a burning, pierced heart, signifying its commitment to truth, unity and love. The all-male high school enrolls around 570 students. Emphasis is placed on a faith-based curriculum that prioritizes religious devotion and rigorous academic achievements.
St. Rita students can choose to take elective STEM classes in computer science principles, 2D/3D animation and graphic design, engineering and Apple apps design.
The campus spreads over 37 beautifully landscaped acres and features a new athletic facility that is, according to the school, "among the best in the state of Illinois." Fifteen sports are offered, including golf, hockey, water polo, and lacrosse. St. Rita's teams have won several IHSA Regional Championships in basketball, volleyball and baseball.
A large percentage of students go on to attend a 4-year college after graduating.
In recent years, Niche ranked St. Rita of Cascia as being among the best all-boys high schools in Illinois.
