Taft Charter High School prepares students for the twenty-first century through rigorous classes, a variety of electives and AP courses and the necessary academic, technological and interpersonal skills to successfully compete in today’s global society. Students gain opportunities to foster their individual interests and talents through innovative programs and multi-faceted instruction allowing them to develop a voice and become lifelong learners.
Taft offers a core curriculum along with physical education, Humanitas classes and courses in world languages and cultures. Taft is WASC-accredited and offers the Academy of Integrated Arts and Technology (AIAT) Program as part of its full inclusion gifted program. The Academy is home to gifted and exceptional learners and boasts extraordinary benefits for all of its students. Skills such as integrated social emotional learning, organization and time-management goal setting skills, art and technology are also stressed. The lessons focus on conceptual understanding, critical thinking, problem solving and quality over quantity.
Taft’s Creative Arts Program (CAP) provides an opportunity for students to excel across the spectrum of the visual and performing arts. CAP also includes hands-on, real-life experiences with the culinary and business arts. Taft Charter High School offers several special education programs to meet the learning needs of students eligible to receive these supports and services.

In my almost 3 years at Taft I can say that it definitely has its goods and bads. The teachers that I have encountered have all been wonderful. I know some haven't been as lucky with their teachers as I have but all my teachers are all amazing and are always there for you academically and personally. My ASL teacher just won California teacher of the year. To show that there are some amazing teachers at Taft. The student can be a bit much. The tend to be a bit self entitled as well and do not value others opinions and will go as far as to get into physical altercations to prove that they are right. The staff don't do much but yell at students and show power over them. But overall the school experience has been decent.

I really enjoyed my time at Taft. The teachers were all really friendly, there was a wide selection of classes you could choose from, and there was a lot of diversity at the school.

My daughter is very Happy at this school. I feel like everyone does their part at this school. Great communication, you can feel the positivity all around. I’m Looking forward to my daughter future achievements from this school.

This school seems more concerned with promoting the kids who are doing well than with stopping the rampant bullying present. Children with learning differences are approached in a textbook / checklist manner and are not regarded as individuals.
